8:00 pm - Mass for Maundy Thursday, followed by The Watch - all night.
On Maundy Thursday we remember Jesus sharing his Last Supper with his disciples, instituting the celebration of the Eucharist. Following his teaching we celebrate the Eucharist in remembrance of him. At this supper, Jesus gave his greatest commandment that we should love one another as he has loved us; and so during this service feet are washed by the clergy as an example of Christian humility and service.
Following the service there is a silent watch or vigil, throughout the night, between 9pm and 9am.
Friday 3rd April
12:00 pm - Readings and reflections on the Seven Words from the Cross.
2:00 pm - The Liturgy of Good Friday
Saturday 4th April
7:30 pm - Vigil and lighting of Paschal Candle
The Easter Vigil is the first service of Easter and begins with the symbolic and expectant waiting for the resurrection of Jesus.
The Paschal Candle is lit from a new fire, which depicts the new life and light of Jesus' resurrection on the first Easter morning.
Sunday 5th April
10:00 am - Easter Day, Festival Mass
Early on the third day, Jesus' disciples come and find the empty tomb. Later that day they gather and eat with their risen Lord. Our Easter celebrations celebrate the joy of Resurrection and the promise of eternal life.
